BAM JIMBA - ONE LOVE

One Riddim, One Album, One Love. Bamjimba can surely not be put in One Category, though.

Bamjimba (aka Fatman) is a producer, whose projects can include well up to twenty musicians all playing a different part. He works alongside the Mad Professor in Ariwa Studio, and Mad Professor also mixes Dubwise tracks for him.

His album 1 Love is centered around one riddim. But don't let that make you think how we have another Riddim CD here, for that is absolutely not the case. The music is well versatile and crosses the rythmical borders of Reggae on several occasions. Still, it allways returns to the roots.

You will be taken from a laid back, almost jazzy vibe into a housey Dub which borders Techno. That's not all, because even some blues and rock is coming thru every now and then as well. Horns, organs, guitars, every possible instrument is used to show just what can be done with that one riddim.

There is nuff bass, nuff drum and bassline as well. To mix all these different styles into one album and keep up some consistency is not easy. It's a well produced project.

A truly interesting musical excursion, showing how one Reggae Riddim can -in principal- lay the foundation for so many different styles of music. Different styles which don't really match together like Blues and Techno can be reconciled in this One Love, as the album is called.

The album can be bought online through CD Baby as well as a number of other online outlets. There's something to say about that. Because Bamjimba doesn't profit from the album sales himself. Which brought him the "Best Fund Raising Idea" from 2003.

The album is livicated towards the memory of Papa Wade McKinney of Fari Productions International in Nassau. The brother unfortunately died as the result of Sickle Cell  complications.

And so the profits of this album go directly to the Sickle Cell Society. This is a sickness of which the majority of sufferers are African Carribean people.

Truly: One Album, One Riddim and... One Love!
