PABLO GAD - HARD TIMES
It's not so unusual, to find the best music in the dusty corners of a Reggae store. Like good roots, you have to dig deep to find them. Hard Times by Pablo Gad is such an album.

The name Pablo Gad will not immediatly ring a bell with many people. Completely unjustified, if even for this album Hard Times.

Pablo Gad is based in the UK, and he is simply a very good vocalist. He has a wide reach, beautifull melodies in his singing, and especially when he sings conscious lyrics you'll hear how Pablo Gad masters a riddim like not many can do.

It's just too bad, that there's not so much music released by Pablo Gad. He did release more then one album, but Hard Times is definitely his best.

Originally released in 1981 on the Burning Sounds label, this UK produced album contains some trukly beatifull music. As a singer, as a toaster, Pablo Gad's voice is definitely something special. He has a wailing vibe in his singing which blends well with the tight dubby UK Roots.

There is a consistency in quality throughout the entire album. They are all of high quality, and even the avarage tracks have something special. When you're a DJ, you can play any one of the tracks of this album, and they will stand out between other Reggae tracks. They truly will.

Listening to tracks like "Black Before Creation, "Oh JAH" and the priceless "Taugher than the World" will immediatly touch the hearts of the true lover of Reggae Music. Everyone who knows how to appricilove Reggae Music, will immediatly recognize the ultra high quality throughout the entire album.

Pablo Gad sings, and every now and then he starts doing some toasting ("Reggae Rapping") as well. The album also contains some pretty long DUB parts, which makes the album even more enjoyable.

All in all, Pablo Gad's Hard Time is one of the best UK Roots album from the early 1980's, without apology. The quality of the music, the roots and culture, it's of a timeless quality. When you respect your musical collection, you will not regret this addition!
