| The
Aggrovators and the Roots Radics. Two names
that aren't really that unknown within
circles Reggae Music enthusiasts. They were
both studio bands that played the riddims
into the multi track recorder at the Channel
One Studio's.
Morwell Unlimited can be seen as a
fore-runner of both bands. Originally formed
in the early seventies, the musical group
had members like Bingy Bunny and Errol
"Flabba" Holt, who would later be
a part of said session bands.
DUB Music was kind of new too, in the
time the music on this disc was originally
released. Music mixed by none other than
King Tubby himself. Crucial DUB mixing,
especially when you realize that this is
music from the first years of DUB music.
It was also the time, wherein the first
DUB albums came into existence. Until then,
DUB music had predominantly been released as
B-sides of 7" Singles.
In this Blood And Fire re-issue of
"Dub Me" (that comes with extra
versions and is perfectly re-mastered), we
are introduced to their musical works. As
one in these first generation of DUB Albums,
the album was received very well in the UK.
Apart from one title, everything is
recorded in the Channel One studio's, where
the members of Morwell would later be
playing as members of the studio's own
session bands.
Don't expect mere instrumental versions.
Expect some heavy DUBBING. Long echo's,
skillful use of the Spring Reverbs and every
knob on the mixing board is touched
throughout the album.
When you realize, that all of this was
mixed in one take by two hands, stand in
awe!
