MUFLON
DUB SOUND SYSTEM - IN LOVE WITH
RIGHTEOUSNESS
DUBROOM
MUSIC REVIEW |
| WWW,
June 2021 - Hailing from Poland, the Muflon
Dub Sound System (MDSS) has been around in the
online DUB Artist community. And in the Outernet,
too. Centered around the Muflon Man, MDSS
had music released on Tanty Records' "Roots Of Dub
Funk" series and not in the least on online
platforms such as VERSIONIST.
"In
Love With Righteousness" is a
compilation of some of the best Dubwise
music that MDSS has released throughout the
2005 right through to 2014. The album is
released through Dubophonic, known for their
outstanding releases and continuing support
for the Online (DUB) Reggae Artist
Community. And coincidentally: the muflon
happens to be the national animal of Cyprus,
home of the Dubophonic Records label.

RUBI
DU - LOCKUP
DUBROOM
MUSIC REVIEW |
| WWW,
March 2021 - As Babylon continues to do what
she always does, spreading lies and
confusion while keeping people in bondage
and slavery, the Most High has Roots
Daughter Rubi Du from New Zealand with a
message of encouragement for Jah people.
Raised by
her parents who were connected to the Twelve
Tribes of Israel organization, Rubi Du grew
up with Reggae Music and Consciousness.
She's been active in New Zealand as a
vocalist, and what a voice indeed.
This track,
a production of Rob Smith of Smith &
Mighty fame comming in several different
versions, is not just a massive UK Steppers.
It's a message of Truth that will make those
that love Jah step up in encouragement while
the wicked get another warning.
Get the EP
at BandCamp. A heartical recommendation from
us here at the Dubroom.

SHANTI-K
MEETS AKI MITTOO - BOTANICAL STORY/RUDIES
DUBROOM
MUSIC REVIEW |
| WWW,
February 2021 - Meet Aki Mittoo, who has her
credentials as instructor and player of the
black and white keyboards from melodica to
piano. Meet Shanti-K, multi-instrumentalist
and producer since 1993. And meet Goja
Bongos, whose name tells it all. Two
riddims, six tracks. Read the review, listen
and get the music from BANDCAMP.com.
"Botanical
Story" is a Roots Reggae steppers,
solid. You'll instantly get the vibe. There
are vague resemblances of that other band
from the land of the Rising Sun, Dry and
Heavy. "Rudies" has a Ska flavor,
which matches the title very good as it
recalls the days of the Rude Boys.
Every track
comes in three different versions: an
instrumental track, where Aki Mittoo gets to
play over the riddim from the top to the
very last drop. A Dub version, where
Shanti-K shows his skill as producer and
engineer. Another Dub version where Goja
Bongos adds that Roots vibe which can only
be done by use of the Kete hand drums which,
by the way, he manufactures himself.
We at
Dubroom heartically recommend this release,
which you can get at Bandcamp and other
online music outlets.

RAS
MIDAS - WORLD BLOCK PARTY WITH DUB
DUBROOM
MUSIC REVIEW |
| WWW,
January 2021 - In what is his first release
after ten years, Jamaican Reggae Veteran
singer RAS MIDAS comes with an upfull One
Drop style, both vocal and dub. From the
studio's of Harry J's in 1970's Jamaica to a
digital release at Bandcamp, Ras Midas
a.k.a. The Rastaman In Exile been through it
and that's a thing you can definitely hear.
For this
release, he hooked up with producer Mike
Lorello, who has worked with US based Reggae
Band Morgan Heritage but also with ones like
Cher and Whitney Houston. The music was
provided by Larry Lange, another well known
name in the general music business given the
fact he's had his notations at the Billboard
charts. Two veterans in their own way.

DUB DYNASTY -
THUNDERING MANTIS
DUBROOM
ALBUM REVIEW |
| WWW,
September 2014 - Digital download, vinyl,
CD, or a combination: the formats vary, the
source does not. That source being the UK
DUB Twins Alpha and Omega with a brand new
release on their Steppas Records label. Nine
vocal tracks featuring a world wide group of
singers alongside their DUB counterpart
carrying the unmistakable Alpha and Omega
sound.
Dub Dynasty
is Alpha and Omega and Alpha Steppa: yes,
the next generation. Son and nephew, to be
exact.

LUCIANO AND MAD
PROFESSOR - DELIVERANCE DUB SHOWCASE
DUBROOM
ALBUM REVIEW |
| WWW,
September 2014 - What's the difference
between a Showcase and a Dub Showcase, Ariwa
Style? Well, the fact that not every vocal
track is followed by it's Dub (which you can
easily change in your player) plus the fact
that there's an extra Dub version Of
"Three Meals A Day" labeled Sound
System Dub. Luciano and Mad Professor In
Fine Style!
Of course,
when Luciano sings into the multi track
recorder at Ariwa studio with Mad Professor
at the controls he listens to excellent
music. Of course, when Ariwa prepares for
Luciano they will come with a variety of
musical works that will all emphasize a
different side of The MessenJah. Of course a
collaboration between Luciano and Ariwa
brings niceness.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - A
RUFF GUIDE TO ARIWA SOUNDS (Stream in full!)
DUBROOM
ALBUM REVIEW |
| WWW,
September 2014 - Vocal tracks, Discomixes
and of course DUB Shots. "A Ruff Guide
To Ariwa" has it all and look at the
title: it's not a "Ruff Guide To Mad
Professor"! The well-chosen title for
this compilation of sounds from the London
based Studio has a few classics from
"back then", but it also features
some of the -outstanding- work of Joe Ariwa.
Not to mention the all-star list of further
appearances, that is.
It should
not be a surprise: over here at the Dubroom
we're not ashamed to big up Ariwa wherever
possible. That's not just because of the
original and even leading sounds and
riddims, not just because of the consistency
in quality with the enormous quantity. It's
equally because of the importance of Ariwa
for (DUB) Reggae in general.

MESSIAN DREAD
PRESENTS A HEAVYWEIGHT DUBWISE SELECTION WITHOUT
OBJECTION (CD EDITION)
DUBROOM
ALBUM REVIEW |
| WWW,
August 27 2014 - About a week after the
release of the Net
Album, here came the CD edition of
Messian Dread Presents A Heavyweight Dubwise
Selection Without Objection. No less than 16
tracks, a special license for all DJ's and
full high quality cover art: it most
certainly transcends it's online version. On
top of that, obtaining this physical product
will show that you are not just serious in
your support for (DUB) Reggae Music, but
about your own record collection as well.
After all, this is a selection of very
special tracks featuring legendary names
like U Roy, Prince Jazzbo and Dillinger.
Of course,
when you're just interested in the music and
satisfied with burning your own CD you can
simply jump to the Net Album download page
and get the CD Quality wave files from
there. No problem. This is not a release to
make money, this is not even a promotional
tool for Messian Dread and/or Dubroom
Productions, while most of the vocalists
featured on the album absolutely need no
promotion either. This is simply an
opportunity to get your hands on a physical
presentation of the 2014 developments in the
Dubroom studio and the reasons to want that
can vary.

Moa Anbessa presents: Prince David - Watch
Them/Jules I - Jah Jah Calling
DUBROOM
ALBUM REVIEW |
| WWW,
August 2014 - After five years of silence in
the vinyl area, the Italian Dub collective
MOA ANBESSA has scheduled a 12" release
for September 15 in this 2014. The Dubroom
had a chance to listen and wholeheartedly
recommends all vinyl addicts to go and order the 180 grams of Roots Reggae
Ireness from the Venice crew before it's
sold out. It's almost impossible
to follow the Dubroom and not know about Moa
Anbessa. This collective of
conscious Singers and Players of instruments
(including the mixing board) stood at the
root of the -now online legendary- Italian
Dub Community Showcase series, while
their productions are well sought after by
selectors of major Sound Systems like Aba
Shanti-I and Jah Shaka. This is Roots Reggae
(Dub) in it's finest form, namely that of
the conscious kind. It comes with the kind
of communication that actually fits the
massive sounds of the drum and bass
lines.
